Baby Shower In-a-Box: When You Can’t Be There

baby shower in a box - long distance shower ideas

Pick out a few gifts for mom-to-be, bake a few of her favorite cookies or sweets, and frame a few of your favorite memories with her.

Just because you aren’t close by doesn’t mean you can’t host your best friend (or sister, cousin, beloved niece) a shower. She may even be having one you can’t make it to. But don’t let it stop you from sending her something f-a-n-t-a-s-t-i-c….because a box full of baby goodies and baby shower faves can be a wonderful surprise!

Start by picking out a theme – maybe mom-to-be’s favorite color, her childhood nickname, or a traditional baby shower theme like Dr. Seuss or wisdom or around-the-clock.

Next, gather a few gifts for mom-to-be, bake a few of her favorite cookies or sweets, and frame a few of your favorite memories with her.

Add something heartwarming like New Baby Advice, or a birthday card for each of baby’s birthdays #1-18. Mom might like one of those, too….a little encouraging words from you for each year as her baby gets older.

You could even make an audio recording of you reading a baby book, so mom can play it to baby at bedtime while reading the book you sent.

Do you want to have others contribute? Let a few mutual friends who are close to you know what you’re up to…tell them the theme and ask them to bring things. You’ll just have to find a time when you can all get together and wrap and box up the  items for mom-to-be. {Don’t forget to take pics of your group and send them with the package!}

Once you’ve sent it off, don’t let the word out…and maybe with a little help from dad-to-be, you can find out when it arrives and give her a call!
